It was another week and two more dominant efforts from Rockmart pitcher Brandi Hughes.
She threw a no-hitter in the Lady Jackets’ 10-0 win over Adairsville on Tuesday and then allowed only one hit in her team’s 12-1 win over Pepperell on Thursday.
Hughes also helped Rockmart (6-2, 4-0) at the plate with three hits, including a home run and three RBIs, against the Lady Tigers and two more hits and an RBI against Pepperell (5-1, 2-1).
Gordon Central had a 2-0 week as well, defeating Chattooga, 7-2, and North Murray, 13-1.
Makayla Wiseman picked up the win in the North Murray game, going five innings and allowing two unearned runs on four hits. She struck out two.
The Calhoun Lady Yellow Jackets had a solid week, going 2-1. They had wins over Chattooga and North Murray, before losing a close 3-2 decision to No. 5 LFO. Lady Jackets’ pitcher Alyssa Shawgo was impressive against the Lady Warriors, only allowing one earned run on four hits while striking out four.
Model picked up its first subregion win on Tuesday, defeating Coosa 7-1. Stacia Williams had two hits and an RBI, and Haley Sherman added two RBIs.
The Lady Eagles bounced back from that loss by beating Armuchee, 5-4, in on Thursday. Sydnie Clark had three hits for Coosa, including the go-ahead run in the seventh. Chelsea Ledford, Chelsea Overby and Krista Terry each had two hits.
Cedartown beat Gilmer County 2-1 on Tuesday as pitcher Kaci Swafford allowed just four hits.
The Darlington Lady Tigers earned a 10-0 shutout win over Temple on Wednesday, when Taylor Sullins and Emily Thurmond each had three RBIs.
Earlier in the week, Darlington downed Trion, 6-3. Sullins hit a three-run homer and Anna Swafford was 2-for-2.
