That’s the mindset for Unity Christian football, which will begin only its second season of varsity competition on Aug. 20.
“We’re still young,” said head coach Joe Curtiss. “They’re young, but they’re growing and getting better.”
The Lions finished their inaugural season at 3-7, but did make a playoff appearance as a No. 4 seed while playing in the Christian Schools Athletic Association.
Curtiss said that he could already see the results of hard work in the offseason.
“We’re a lot bigger and stronger than we were last year,” said Curtiss. “Their knowledge of the game is better, and they’ve been working hard.”
The Lions bounced around last season for their home games, playing at several venues, but will call Shorter University’s Ben Brady Field home this fall.
Curtiss said the things he’s seen so far in Year 2 are steps in the right direction.
“It’s really positive, the things I’m seeing,” said Curtiss. “We’re just trying to get a little bit better every year.”
Unity will open the season on Aug. 20 at Covenant Christian in Loganville. They will play their first home game on Sept. 3 against East Atlanta.
