That’s because both the Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs played very strong games last Thursday in the opening round of the Region 6-AAA, sub-region ‘B’ tournament. But then the snow came into the area and forced the sub-region tournament to be postponed four days.
That means neither team has been able to play in nearly a full business week during the most important part of the season.
Today, the sub-region tournament is scheduled to resume at Central-Carroll High School and the final round will be played on Wednesday.
Cedartown opened the tournament by defeating Haralson County. The Lady Bulldogs, seeded fifth out of five teams, knocked off the fourth seeded Rebelettes 54-47. The Bulldogs, seeded fourth, took care of opening day business by beating the fifth seeded Rebels 59-49.
Both Cedartown teams are slated to play Carrollton on Tuesday, the No. 1 seeds in both the boys and girls bracket. The Lady Bulldogs will tip-off at 7 p.m. and the Bulldogs at 8:30 p.m.
If either Cedartown team wins, they will advance to the sub-region title game. If either of them lose, they will play in the third-place game on Wednesday.
The third-place game is very important, as only the top three seeds from the sub-region tournament advance to the Region 6-AAA tournament this weekend.
