Although the Holiday Festival’s championship night didn’t deliver any buzzer-beaters — with the Rome High teams sweeping the titles in convincing fashion —there were plenty of tight games earlier in the tourney. Here’s a sampling of the thrillers:

 Model’s Timia Reynolds hit a 10-foot jumper with two seconds left to lift her team to a 38-37 win over Pepperell in the girls semifinals.

 Pepperell’s Ben Lovingood drilled a 3-pointer with 26 seconds left to give the Dragons the lead against Darlington. Kyle Henderson then added a pair of free throws with seven seconds on the clock to seal the 49-45 win.

 In the only overtime game of the tournament, the Armuchee boys needed two extra sessions to down Coosa, 63-58.

 Calhoun’s Katelyn Poole hit a free throw with 22 seconds left in a 43-42 win over Woodland. Woodland’s Alexis Katt, who finished with 29 points, narrowly missed a shot at the buzzer.

 The Coosa girls rallied for a one-point win over Calhoun as Mel McLean hit two free throws with 12 seconds left and Brecia Hall hit a free throw with 0.5 seconds remaining.
