The Lady Eagles picked up their second win of the season and stayed alive in the Holiday Festival with four double-digit performances.

Mel McLean knocked down five of Coosa’s eight 3-pointers on her way to a game-high 19 points, including a trey with 1:03 left in the first half to give them the lead for the first time.

Kirsten Walker, who helped the Lady Eagles go on a 12-0 run to start the third quarter, had 15 while Brecia Hall and Shelby Boyd each added 11.

Coosa (2-4) outscored Cartersville 19-14 in the second half to hold a 28-25 lead at halftime. The Lady Hurricanes (0-7) are eliminated from the tournament.

“We finally picked up the intensity level in the second period,” Coosa coach Connie Guinn said. “We came out dead and changed our press some and I think that made a difference.”
