Unfortunately for Unity, the Lions were overpowered again, mostly by the Knights’ defense, during a 35-7 loss.
Crown forced five turnovers, four of those in the first half — three of which were converted into touchdowns, as the Knights built a 35-0 lead heading into halftime.
The second half didn’t have near as much action as the first, as neither team could get into the end zone in the third quarter.
Among the scattered highlights for Unity Christian was a forced fumble that the Lions recovered on Crown’s 15 yard line with four minutes left in the fourth quarter.
The very next play from scrimmage, quarterback Jackson Bishop delivered a 15-yard touchdown pass to Andy Calvert, making the final score 35-7.
After the game, Unity coach Joe Curtiss was optimistic, looking forward to his team’s playoff game next week against a team to be determined opponent.
“I think we’re going to coach as hard as we can, get them ready, have fun, and give the kids a chance to (get) some playoff experience,” he said. “But again our season is more than a playoff game, more than one game here, or anything, it’s about growing a program, I think the kids are really putting in the effort.”
