By the time football season officially kicks off, you’ll see a new-and-improved site with a host of new features.
One of the more popular features of the Web site last fall was the weekly power rankings compiled in the From the Sidelines blog.
Each week, our sports writers will vote on the top 10 teams in area football. If fans disagree with our rankings or just want to rank teams themselves, they’ll be able to do so by utilizing a drag-and-drop approach.
Fans can choose which teams they think should be in the top 10 and the fans’ poll will show alongside the sportswriters’ poll.
The new site will also feature a host of team and player stats so fans, players, coaches and athletes can keep tabs on who is racking up the yardage or touchdowns and which defense is almost impossible to score on.
Prepcentralonline.com will have a new look to it, too.
The design is much cleaner and user-friendlier, while keeping all of the things that have helped this Web site earn national and state awards.
It’s still the best place to get quarter-by-quarter scores of local football games this fall.
While we won’t have live updated scores for all sports, the scoreboard is the place to go and check out how your favorite teams have done.
The upgraded Web site also boasts a feature allowing players to claim their own player pages. Their pages allow comments, pictures and show statistics for that player. It will also highlight any articles, videos or photos showing the player.
Comments are nothing new on Web sites and Prep Central has had them since the beginning.
This year we’ll add another level as we seek out team and sport-specific bloggers to help give us the latest on their teams or sports.
If you think you have what it takes to be a blogger drop us a line at prepcentral@gmail.com
While lots of prep sites tend to be football heavy and forget that other sports exist, Prep Central has coverage of all high school sports.
Team pages are bigger and better than ever. There are more than 37 high schools in Northwest Georgia and Northeast Alabama featured on the team pages.
The team pages hold all the latest news, videos, photos, scores, stats and even the marching band’s latest performance as well as the latest blog posts from your team bloggers.
Prep Central — it’s where you find all things high school sports.
