In keeping with that theme, Mother Nature crafted a shutout on Wednesday, when heavy rain forced the games to be postponed.
The tournament will resume today, with three games on the schedule.
At 5 p.m., the No. 2-ranked and top-seeded Calhoun Lady Jackets will play fourth-seeded Rockmart in the winners’ brackets finals, while second-seeded Coosa and seventh-seeded Adairsville meet in the elimination-round semifinals.
The Coosa/Adairsville winner will then play the Rockmart/Calhoun loser at 7 p.m. in the elimination-round finals. The tournament’s championship game(s) will be played on Friday.
All four teams in action today are assured of a berth in the Class AA sectionals next weekend in Dalton.
Calhoun, seeking its second consecutive 7-AA title, will carry a 17-game winning streak into today’s game against Rockmart.
Rockmart, meanwhile, has been the tourney’s most explosive team, outscoring its opponents 22-3 while posting wins over Pepperell, Sonoraville and Coosa.
Pitching has been the dominating theme at of the tourney. Through the first 14 games, there have been six shutouts and four additional games in which the losing team was limited to one run.

TRION NEEDS THREE
At Alto Park, the Trion Lady Bulldogs are facing a tough road in their quest for a 6-A title.
The Lady Bulldogs face Bowdon today at 4 p.m. in the elimination-round finals. The winner moves on to face top-seeded Gordon Lee in the championship round, and will need to beat the Lady Trojans twice to win the title.
The championship round begins at 6 p.m., with an if-necessary game to follow at 8 p.m.
Gordon Lee, ranked No. 2 in the state, has won 24 straight games.
CENTURY MARK
Emma Horne reached a milestone on Tuesday when she played in her 100th consecutive game for the Lady Dragons during their 8-0, season-ending loss to Coosa.
Horne has been Pepperell’s starting center fielder in every game since the beginning of her freshman season.
