The Calhoun softball team ran the table in Region 7-AA this season, going 11-0 against region foes.

Now the No. 2-ranked Lady Jackets are looking to parlay that success into their second straight 7-AA tournament championship.

Calhoun will be the top seed at this year’s tourney, which begins Saturday at Hamilton Crossing in Adairsville.

The double-elimination event continues through Thursday, with the top four finishers earning automatic berths to the state sectionals.

Six games are on the schedule for Saturday.

At 3 p.m., ninth-seeded Pepperell faces fourth-seeded Rockmart, and third-seeded Armuchee faces the No. 10 seed.

At 5 p.m. on Saturday, sixth-seeded Sonoraville meets seventh-seeded Adairsville, and fifth-seeded Dade County plays eighth-seeded Gordon Central.

The opening-round winners will then square off at 7 p.m, while the losing teams will fall into the loser’s bracket and will play on Monday.

The tourney’s top two seeds — Calhoun and Coosa — will get into tourney play on Monday.

The Region 6-A tournament, held at Alto Park, begins Monday.

Trion will be the No. 2 seed, and Darlington will be the No. 7.

In Thursday’s prep action:

Trion 3, Bremen 1

Trion earned the No. 2 seed in next week’s 6-A region tournament with a win against visiting Bremen.

At the plate for the Lady Bulldogs, Morgan Blanchard and Lauren Samples were 1-for-3 with two RBIs each, and Alex James, Kristan Devier and Carrie Ann Caron each hit twice.

Alexa Rush earned the win for Trion (15-12, 8-4), pitching seven innings, allowing two hits and striking out five.

Bremen is the No. 4 seed, Bowdon No. 5, Mt. Zion No. 6 and Darlington, No. 7.

Trion plays Darlington on Monday at 4 p.m. in the 6-A region tournament.
